Who Defines Your Worth?

Worth where do we truly get our worth. There are a lot of popular influencers that state that you are worth it and that you need to live YOUR truth. The problem with this type of speaking from a Christian perspective is that if my truth is the truth then it excludes God and everyone else. Look at Genesis 3 for example where the snake tells Adam and Eve that they shell not die of they eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil; in fact they will be like God. Like God they can determine good and evil on their own, they can define what is true and what is not. The result sin entered the world and guilt, pain and shame entered the world and humanity from henceforth tried to define what is true and just in their own way with devastating consequences, extreme examples of where this can be seen is in people such as Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. So the question should not be what truth is, but who is truth? And Jesus gives us the answer in John 14:6 – ““I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”” (NET 2007)
Truth is thus who Jesus is, which means He defines what is true in regards to who He is (God in the Flesh), and who we are. And who are we? Well we are lost and flawed human beings that need a saviour. This is why Paul says in Romans 3:23 – 24: ““for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. But they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”” (NET 2007) God created human beings in His image (Genesis 1:26 – 27), but because of the fall this image became distorted and the only way that this image can be restored is in and through Jesus Christ, and thus those who are saved do not claim worth on their own merit, for they know that in themselves they are not, but in Christ they are. Thus our worth or truth is not defined by us, but Christ who is worthy of it all.
2 Corinthians 5:17 – “So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come!” (NET 2007)
